Where: Level 1, 257 Collins Street, Melbourne
Duration: 90 minutes (60 minutes presentation/discussion; 30 minutes informal interaction with Philology staff)
Abstract:
This presentation will provide an overview of the role that market research plays in the business planning and product development process with particular focus on the needs of entrepreneurs, start-up companies, and small and medium business owners. It will describe the different types of research (market, customer, competitor), and how and when to use market research during the business development and product planning lifecycles. The presentation will also demonstrate how to leverage the Internet to improve your company's (online) presence, and to better “connect” with customers online to understand their needs and gather feedback on your products and services.
The presentation will take a practical approach to the subject, discussing strategies and activities that can be undertaken using in-house resources with little or no budget. The speakers will also provide guidance on the ethics of conducting customer and competitive research, when to engage professional assistance on a research project, how to budget for market research, and criteria for selecting an appropriate research partner and market data source.
Attendees will be able to see a demonstration of "best practice" in conducting online market research, and in the design and implementation of "Web 2.0" enabled company web site designed to help maximize a company's online presence and to connection with customers.
Everyone who registers for and attends the seminar will receive a copy of the QEDML Survey Designer software, and a 30-day trial account on one of Philology's Web Survey servers, enabling them to conduct their own online customer survey. Philology consultants will be available after the presentation to answer individual questions, provide specific advice, and to help attendees get started using the QEDML software to design their own customer surveys.
